LED UFO Highbays

UFO LED high bays are round, compact high bay lights for warehouses, storage sheds, production halls, workshops and sports halls from about 4 metres high. Choose from 100W, 150W, 200W and 240W with 12,000 to 45,600 lumens, from the budget Basic (120 lm/W) up to 210 lm/W with a Philips driver. All UFO high bays are IP65. Apart from the Basic, they are all dimmable via 0-10V, and there are versions with a motion sensor and with DALI.

Which wattage for which height?

  • 100W: 4 to 8 metres, replaces a 250W HQL/HQI fitting.
  • 150W: 6 to 10 metres, replaces 250 to 400W.
  • 200W: 8 to 12 metres, replaces 400W.
  • 240W: from 10 metres, replaces 400 to 600W.

Within one wattage, the efficacy determines how much light you get: a 100W at 210 lm/W gives 21,000 lumens, almost twice as much as a 100W Basic at 120 lm/W. The Basic is therefore mounted lower: 3 to 5 metres at 100W.

Which series do you choose?

  • Basic (120 lm/W): lowest price, not dimmable, for storage and spaces with few operating hours. 3-year warranty.
  • 150 lm/W (Philips or Sosen driver): the all-rounder for daily use, 0-10V dimmable, also in 240W.
  • 180 to 210 lm/W: more light per watt, for halls where the lights are on for long hours; the extra cost pays for itself on the energy bill.
  • With motion sensor: switches on by itself when it detects movement, for aisles, storage and dispatch areas.
  • DALI (150 lm/W): control per fitting or per group from a DALI lighting control or building management system, in 100W, 150W, 200W and 240W. All DALI products are listed under DALI lighting.

UFO or linear?

A UFO high bay spreads the light in a wide circle and suits open halls without high racking. If you work with racking aisles or fixed workstations, a linear high bay gives more directed light along the aisle.

UFO high bays: frequently asked questions

What is a UFO high bay?

A round LED high bay light, named after its flat, saucer-shaped housing. The LEDs and cooling fins sit in one compact body, so it delivers a lot of light from a single point. It replaces the classic HQL or HQI high bay lamp.

How many UFO high bays do I need?

Rule of thumb: area per high bay in m² = lumens × 0.48 / required lux. A 22,500-lumen UFO covers about 54 m² at 200 lux (warehouse) and about 36 m² at 300 lux (workshop). Space them 1 to 1.5 times the mounting height apart. Worked example for your hall

How do I hang a UFO high bay?

From the suspension eye with a hook, chain or steel cable, always secured with the extra safety cable. It connects to 230V; dimmable models have an additional control wire (0-10V or DALI). Have the installation carried out by a qualified electrician.

Can I dim a UFO high bay?

Yes, except the Basic series. The 0-10V models are dimmed via a separate control wire to a 0-10V dimmer or building management system; the DALI series is controlled from a DALI system. A standard phase dimmer will not work. View 0-10V dimmers

What warranty do I get?

5 years on all UFO high bays, 3 years on the Basic series. They are designed for 50,000 operating hours.

Do you supply for projects?

Yes. Volume pricing applies to larger quantities and business customers can buy on invoice. Request a quote and we will be happy to work out the numbers with you.
