T8 LED Tubes 120 cm (4ft)

A 120 cm (4ft) LED tube is the direct replacement for the classic 36W fluorescent tube and the most common length in offices, garages, workshops and warehouses. Our T8 tubes (G13 cap) use 15 to 18W and deliver 2,160 to 3,600 lumens depending on efficiency, from 120 lm/W to 200 lm/W. They light up instantly, do not flicker and are available in 3000K, 4000K, 5000K and 6000K. No fitting yet? Choose an LED tube fitting or a waterproof fitting for damp areas.

Which 120 cm LED tube should you choose?

All tubes have the same length and cap; the difference is how much light you get per watt.

  • 120 lm/W, 2,160 lumens: the most affordable replacement for a 36W fluorescent tube, for storerooms, corridors and areas with few operating hours.
  • 140 lm/W, 2,520 lumens: more light for the same consumption, for offices and shops.
  • 170 lm/W, 3,060 lumens: for workshops, garages and warehouses that need plenty of light.
  • 200 lm/W, up to 3,600 lumens: wattage selectable at 15 or 18W, the lowest consumption per lumen. For spaces where the lights are on all day. Also available in 5000K daylight.

A more efficient tube costs a little more, but the difference pays for itself on the electricity bill when the lights are on for long hours. Calculate your savings

Which colour temperature?

  • 3000K warm white: waiting rooms, hospitality and living areas.
  • 4000K neutral white: offices, schools, shops and corridors. The most popular choice.
  • 5000K daylight: workstations where colours need to be seen accurately (in the 200 lm/W series).
  • 6000K cool white: workshops, garages and warehouses.

Frequently asked questions about 120 cm LED tubes

Will a 120 cm LED tube fit my old fluorescent fitting?

Yes, if it is a T8 fitting with G13 lampholders (tube diameter 26 mm). If your fitting has a magnetic ballast with a starter, replace the old starter with an LED starter and fit the LED tube. If it has an electronic (HF) ballast, the ballast must be removed or bypassed and the tube wired directly to 230V. LED tube installation guide

How do I connect an LED tube?

Our tubes are single-end powered: live and neutral connect at one end of the tube, the other end is not connected. They work on 100 to 240V. In an LED tube fitting this is already wired correctly: insert the tube, connect the fitting and you are done.

What wattage does a 120 cm LED tube replace?

An 18W LED tube replaces a 36W fluorescent tube. Because a fluorescent fitting with ballast also consumes power itself, the real saving is 50 to 60 percent. With the 200 lm/W tube set to 15W you save even more.

How many 120 cm LED tubes do I need?

Rule of thumb: one tube of 3,000 to 3,600 lumens lights 6 to 8 m² at a ceiling height of 2.5 to 3 metres. For a 40 m² workshop you need roughly 5 to 7 tubes. For office lighting (500 lux), allow a little more.

What is the difference between T8 and T5?

T8 has a 26 mm diameter and a G13 cap; T5 is 16 mm thick with a G5 cap and different lengths. A T8 tube does not fit a T5 fitting. The T5 equivalent of a 120 cm tube is 1148 mm long: see T5 LED tubes 1148 mm or all T5 LED tubes.

How long does an LED tube last?

They are designed for 50,000 operating hours, which is more than 13 years at 10 hours a day. All tubes come with a 5-year warranty.

Do you supply for projects?

Yes. Volume pricing applies to larger quantities and business customers can buy on invoice. Request a quote and we will be happy to work out the numbers with you.
